Biography

Trying to weave my love for teaching and my calling as a writer together takes focus and constant work. My teaching emphasis follows my passion for writing, theatre, and Concurrent Credit college classes, such as speech. I birthed The Theatre Space and the theatre department at Crosspoint in 1994 and now, 26 years later, I work with teacher and director Lauren Healy, who graduated from our Performance Company program and is now leading the department. We just finished producing our 49th show at Crosspoint.

Teaching for me is a divine appointment. My role as a teacher exemplifies my mission statement: “I will utilize my gifts as a writer, teacher, humanitarian, actress and director to highlight the redemptive stories of life, emphasizing faith, family and concerns for my world.” Part of what I enjoy about teaching is discovering with students what it means to be in god’s presence, learning to pray beyond our borders and building confidence in Christ through the discipline of learning. I occasionally still find time to act and love running, seeing theatre and road trips in search of local color. My work as a writer includes stage plays, films and novels. My husband, Phil, children Ellie and Natalie, and granddaughter Zoe continue to walk this journey of life with me, offering great encouragement.
